We need your help!

Bend Community Contra Dance (BCCD) was founded in 2002 when a group of avid Bend-area contra dance enthusiasts decided to form an organization to serve the dance community.

Dear Friends, Fellow Dancers, and Newcomers,

For years, Bend Community Contra Dance has been a vibrant cornerstone of our local arts and culture scene, bringing joy, connection, live music and dance to countless individuals. We’ve built a welcoming space where beginners and experienced dancers alike can share in the unique magic of contra dance – the swirling patterns, rhythmic music and the connections made with the other dancers.

And now we have a new and revitalized Board, gearing up to bring more people and more fun to Bend Contra Dance! However, like many community organizations, we face ongoing financial challenges to ensure our long-term solvency and continuation. To meet these needs and secure the future of contra dance in Bend, we are launching a crucial Matching Funds Campaign to insure we will be solvent this year and beyond.

This is an incredible opportunity for your contribution to have double the impact. Every dollar you donate will be matched, effectively doubling its power, to support our talented musicians, our reach to new dancers and explore fun outreach opportunities.

Your generosity directly helps us cover essential costs such as:

  • Fair compensation for our amazing live musicians and callers.
  • Rental fees for suitable dance venues.
  • Equipment maintenance and sound system upgrades.
  • Outreach and promotion to welcome new dancers into our community.
  • Publicity, website, banking, office supplies, etc.

No amount is too small, and every contribution will make a difference. If you are able, donations in the $25-$50 range or higher would be particularly impactful in helping us reach our matched goal totaling $1,000,ensuring the sustained vibrancy of Bend Community Contra Dance this season.

We are also in the process of obtaining 501(c)3 status as a not-for-profit.

Please consider making your donation today. You can contribute by Check, Venmo or Cash.

This QR takes you to our Venmo account. It’s created by our Treasure John Bambe, so that’s the ‘JB’ reference. You can also donate by going to Venmo and sending to @john-bambe .
Mailing address is below if you’d like to donate by check. Please write “Matching Campaign” on the check and Venmo transfer.

Finally, if any of you know of a company or organization that might be interested in sponsoring a dance or outreach event or just be a general sponsor of our season, we’d love to reach out to them, so please send us your ideas. And as always, we urge you to help get the word out about our dances to newcomers. We’ll be creating promo materials that can be easily shared online and it would be great if you can share on your social media and posting flyers.

Thank you for being a part of the Bend Community Contra Dance family. With your support, we can continue to dance, connect, and build community for many years to come. Please contact us via email if you are interested in volunteering as we can use some help. One of us will get back to you to discuss how you can help.

Sincerely,

The Bend Community Contra Dance Board of Directors

Volunteers needed!!!!
There are many ways you can help build Bend Contra into a thriving community. BCCD volunteers help plan dance events, host out of town bands and callers in their homes, open and close the dance hall, welcome and dance with newcomers, work the admission table, bring baked goods and snacks and (non- alcoholic) beverages, help promote our dances on social media, by posting flyers, word of mouth, help with fundraising ideas and can also serve on the BCCD Board. If you would like to be more involved, please speak with a board member at any of the BCCD events or send us an email: bendcontra@gmail.com
