Help Keep Contra Dance Thriving in Bend!

Bend Community Contra Dance (BCCD) was founded in 2002 when a group of avid Bend-area contra dance enthusiasts decided to form an organization to serve the dance community.

For years, Bend Community Contra Dance has been a vibrant cornerstone of our local arts and culture scene, bringing joy, connection, live music and dance to countless individuals. We’ve built a welcoming space where beginners and experienced dancers alike can share in the unique magic of contra dance – the swirling patterns, rhythmic music and the connections made with the other dancers.

And now we have a new and revitalized Board, gearing up to bring more people and more fun to Bend Contra Dance! We are happy to announce that our Matching Funds Campaign was a success and enabled us to get the dance season going and help to insure we will be solvent this year and beyond. We can announce that PCDC – Portland Country Dance Community – started off our matching campaign which we exceeded in the weeks that followed. Thank you PCDC!

We do, of course, have ongoing expenses and are in process of obtaining non-profit status, procuring better sound equipment and establishing a kitty to help with promotion. Honestly, though, just coming to the dances and telling your friends about it is more than enough. We have doubled the number of attendees in just four dances! We are so very happy about that and already feeling a strong sense of community developing between new and longstanding dancers.

Your generosity directly helps us cover essential costs such as:

  • Fair compensation for our amazing live musicians and callers.
  • Rental fees for suitable dance venues.
  • Equipment maintenance and sound system upgrades.
  • Outreach and promotion to welcome new dancers into our community.
  • Publicity, website, banking, office supplies, etc.

Thanks for supporting the sustained vibrancy of Bend Community Contra Dance this season and beyond.

We are also in the process of obtaining 501(c)3 status as a not-for-profit.

Please consider making your donation today. You can contribute by Check, Venmo or Cash.

This QR takes you to our Venmo account. It’s created by our Treasure John Bambe, so that’s the ‘JB’ reference. You can also donate by going to Venmo and sending to @john-bambe .
Mailing address is below if you’d like to donate by check. Please write “Matching Campaign” on the check and Venmo transfer.

Finally, if any of you know of a company or organization that might be interested in sponsoring a dance or outreach event or just be a general sponsor of our season, we’d love to reach out to them, so please send us your ideas. And as always, we urge you to help get the word out about our dances to newcomers. We’ll be creating promo materials that can be easily shared online and it would be great if you can share on your social media and posting flyers.

Thank you for being a part of the Bend Community Contra Dance family. With your support, we can continue to dance, connect, and build community for many years to come. Please contact us via email if you are interested in volunteering as we can use some help. One of us will get back to you to discuss how you can help.

Sincerely,

The Bend Community Contra Dance Board of Directors

Other ways to help ~ Volunteers needed!!!!
There are many ways you can help build Bend Contra into a thriving community. BCCD volunteers help plan dance events, host out of town bands and callers in their homes, open and close the dance hall, welcome and dance with newcomers, work the admission table, bring baked goods and snacks and (non- alcoholic) beverages, help promote our dances on social media, by posting flyers, word of mouth, help with fundraising ideas and can also serve on the BCCD Board. If you would like to be more involved, please speak with a board member at any of the BCCD events or send us an email: bendcontra@gmail.com
